David Lyman Ceely was born in 1923 in New York to Lyman and Mabel Ceely. He graduated from the Allendale School on June 16, 1937. He served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant, and was lost in action on December 20, 1943 while flying on a combat mission to Bremen, Germany. He is still missing and is commemorated on the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. Ssgt Ceely was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
