Guy McKinley Claypool was born in 1918 in Pennsylvania. He served in the 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of #42-31149 "My Day" aircraft during World War II. A member of the Comella crew, he was killed when their plane crashed on December 30, 1943. 2Lt Claypool is still missing and is commemorated on the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
