John George Giokaris was born in 1923. He served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Sergeant and Radio Operator of #43-38558 aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action but was declared "Missing" on February 25, 1945 and is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing, Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Sgt Giokaris was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
