Albertus Harrenstein was born on October 14, 1916 in Colfax Township, Huron County, Michigan. He was the son of Ben Harrenstein and Elsche Gerdes Ostwold Harrenstein. He served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Technical Sergeant and Radio Operator of #42-30789 "Flak Suit / Butcher Boy" aircraft during World War II. Albertus was Killed in Action November 5, 1943 in Germany at the age of 27 and is now buried in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Holland, Grundy County, Iowa, USA. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
