Thomas Franklin Hawkins was born on May 24, 1925 in Alabama. He was the son of Dewey Hawkins and Drucilla Ingram Hawkins. He served in the 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Staff Sergeant and Togglier on #42-97114 "Borrowed Time" aircraft during World War II. Thomas was Killed in Action on March 17, 1945 and is now buried in the Boggs Cemetery, Blountstown, Calhoun County, Florida, USA. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
