Lewis Carl Heatly was born on January 22, 1922 in Greer County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Herbert Lee Heatly and Jessie Nona Barnes Heatly. He served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of #42-39804 "Bad Penny" aircraft during World War II. Lewis was Killed in Action on February 10, 1944 and is now buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma, USA. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
