Hartzell Hert Jones was born on March 5, 1911 in Kansas. He was the son of Joseph Henry Jones and Olive Roneah Jones. He served in the 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Technical Sergeant and Engineer of #42-30203 "Shack-Up" aircraft during World War II. Hartzell was killed on September 6, 1943 but was declared "Missing in Action" on August 10, 1945 and is commemorated on the Tablets of the Missing, Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
