Robert James Keogh was born in 1923 in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. He was killed in action when the B-17 "Flying Fortress" #42-38187 "Princess Azul" in which he was a Radio Operator, was shot down over France. The plane belonged to the US 8th Air Force 388th Heavy Bombardment Group, 560th Squadron, whose mission was to attack German installations in preparation for "D-Day", the Normandy Invasion which began just 4 days later. T/Sgt. Keogh, a native of Jersey City, NJ, was 21 years old at the time of his death.
