George Krolik, Jr. was born on April 2, 1921 in Boswell, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Army on August 15, 1942 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He was noted as being employed as a miner and also as Single, without dependents. George served as a Staff Sergeant and Waist Gunner on B-17 (#42-30317) "Second Chance", 562nd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

George was "Killed In Action" on a mission to Bremen, Germany during the war. He is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. SSgt Krolik was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
