Donald Eugene Liebman was born on June 10, 1924 in Bayfield County, Wisconsin. He served in the 562nd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner of #42-31194 "Duchess of Dixie" aircraft during World War II. Donald was taken as a POW and died in a German prison. He is now buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hayward, Sawyer County, Wisconsin, USA. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
