Errol Kaegi Luginbill was born on July 26, 1916 in McPherson County, Kansas. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Luginbill and Edith Elizabeth Kaegi Luginbill. Errol served in the 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator of #42-31214 "Return Engagement" aircraft during World War II. A member of the Pou crew, he was killed when their plane crashed next to the windmill of the village of Maasen just north of the road from Sulingen to Nienburg, Germany on March 8, 1944. His body was found in the airplane. He is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. 2Lt Luginbill was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
