Winfred E. Manship entered the military service in Indiana. He served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Radio Operator of #42-107202 "Belle of the Brawl" aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action but was declared "Missing" on August 24, 1944 and is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing, Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France. Tsgt Manship was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
