Willard Reeves McGee was born on October 19, 1915 in North Carolina. He was the son of Thomas Zebulon Vance McGee and Jettie Francis Larimore McGee. He served in the 562nd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and waist gunner of #42-31135 "Susy Sag Tits" aircraft during World War II. A member of the Given crew, he was killed when their plane crashed on March 6, 1944. He is now buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. SSgt McGee was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
