George Millar, Jr. was born on January 22, 1923 in Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of George and Rachel Gertrude Price Millar. George served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and tail gunner of an aircraft during World War II. He was declared "Missing in Action" on February 10, 1944 and is commemorated on the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He also has a cenotaph located in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. SSgt Millar was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
