Francis Joseph Motschman was born on May 13, 1923 in Illinois. He was the son of Roy A. Motschman and Genevieve Motschman. Francis served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner of #42-31781 aircraft during World War II. A member of the DeJean crew, he was killed when their plane crashed on February 4, 1944 over Frankfurt, Germany. He is now buried in the Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, Evergreen Park, Cook County, Illinois, USA. SSgt Motschman was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
