Wilbur Paul Quinn was born on November 12, 1921. He was the son of Peter Paul Quinn and Geneva Rankin Martin. He served in the 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and tail gunner of #42-30039 aircraft during World War II. Their plane was shot down by German Bf 109 fighter over the North Sea aboard B-17G Flying Fortress "Iza Angel II," and crashed near Esbjerg, Denmark. Four crew members was Killed in Action (including Quinn), six survived and taken as POW's. Tsgt Quinn is now buried in the Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, USA. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
