Johnnie Gonzalez Reina was born on February 1, 1924 in Oakland, Alameda County, California. He served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner of #43-38404 aircraft during World War II. A member of the Heimendinger crew, he was killed when their plane crashed on September 28, 1944. He is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France. SSgt Reina was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
