Ira William Robinson was born on June 12, 1916 in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Edward H. Robinson and Ethel M. Smith Robinson. He served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Engineer of #42-32030 "Devil's Luck" aircraft during World War II. A member of the Castrup crew, he was killed when their plane crashed on July 31, 1944. Their plane was hit by a flak over the target and blew-up. He was flying tail-end Charlie in the low Group. Tsgt Robinson is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
