Ernest Lee "Dutch" Shero was born on January 6, 1921 in Paden, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Earl Ray Shero and Gertrude Mae Jukes Shero. He served in the 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group (Heavy), as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier of #42-3555 "Tiger Girl" aircraft during World War II. A member of the Branham crew, he was killed when their plane crashed on November 26, 1943. He is now buried in the Centerpoint Cemetery, Wilburton, Latimer County, Oklahoma, USA. 2Lt Shero was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
