Harold W. Swanson entered the military service in New York. He served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group (Heavy), as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator of #42-97528 "Mary's Sister" aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 5, 1945 and is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. 2Lt Swanson was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
