Don Eldred Wollard was born on May 16, 1918 in Missouri. He was the son of Jewell C. Wollard and Kate H. Wollard. He served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group (Heavy), as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of #42-30340 "Screamin' Red Ass" aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 8, 1944 and is now buried in the Fairmount Cemetery, Lamar, Prowers County, Colorado, USA. 2Lt Wollard was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
