Walter S. Foster was born on March 6, 1914. He was the son of Wilbur Walter Foster and Elizabeth Lee Hardy Foster. Walter served in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II. He died on September 23, 1944 at the age of 30 and is now buried in the Thornton Cemetery, Thornton, Limestone County, Texas, USA. He was one of the brave American paratroopers of the 501st Inf who liberated the village of Eerde, The Netherlands from German forces in September 1944.
