Robert Kester was born in 1924 in New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. He was one of six children of Harry Kester and Jean Milne Kester. Robert attended New Brighton high school and enlisted in the military on February 20, 1943. He served in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division as a Private during World War II. He died on September 17, 1944 and is now buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. PVT Kester was one of the brave American paratroopers of the 501st Inf who liberated the village of Eerde, The Netherlands from German forces in September 1944.
