Carman Spencer Ladner was born on May 1, 1922 in Canada. He was the son of John Noble Ladner and Ida Mae Wood Ladner. Carman entered the military service in Maine and served in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division as a Corporal during World War II. He was declared missing on September 24, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. He also has a cenotaph located in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gardiner, Kennebec County, Maine.
