Bernald L. Peters was born on December 16, 1918 in Mineral Springs, Pennsylvania. He was married to Esther B. Long London. Bernard served in the 115th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 12, 1944 during the attack on Le Pont de la Pierre, France. The 29th Infantry Division was ordered to cross the Elle in southern direction, also in order to advance on Saint-Lô. The intention was to take Saint-Clair-sur-l’Elle first and then Couvains. PFC Peters is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
