Vernon Blue was educated in Taft schools. Entering the service in December 1942, he was sent to the European theater. Vernon served in the 553rd Bomber Squadron, 386th Bomber Group, Medium as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 28, 1944 while on a mission over Belgium. He is now buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
