386th Bomb Group Monument

On the west side of the road, behind the cemetery.

Monument

A concrete stele on which three plaques are affixed: one explanatory in English and its duplicate in French and the last with the list of American soldiers of the 386th Bomb Group who were killed during the war in the region. On the left side near the monument is a concrete pulpit with a plaque on the surface that contains information message for visitors.

La place où vous vous tenez présentement est une partie du

'Taxiway' d'origine mis en service par l'armée allemande pendant

l'occupation (1942/1943) pour relier les deux pistes de la base

aérienne avec la 'peupleraie' d'en face qui servait de zone

de réparations et de controles pour les appareils endommagés.

Au cours de son séjour sur le site (Oct. 1944/Avril 1945) le 386éme

groupe de bombardement de l'U.S.A. Force l'utilisa aux memes fins.

The place where you are presently staying is a part of the original

'Taxi-way' put into service by the german army during the occupation

(1942/1943) to connect the two runways of the air-base with the

opposite 'poplar-plantation' which served as repairs and controls

area for the damaged aircrafts.

During its stay on the site (Oct 1944/Apr. 1945) the 386th bomb group

of the U.S.A. Air Force used it for the same purposes.
