Ralph Fred Sumlin was born on February 25, 1925. He was the son of Robert Lee Sumlin and Olive Strain Sumlin. Ralph volunteered for the Air Corps in February 1943. He was a B26 Pilot and was stationed at Barksdale Field before going overseas. He served in the 553rd Bomber Squadron, 386th Bomber Group, Medium, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. 2LT Sumlin died on December 15, 1944 at the age of 19 and is now buried in the Simsboro City Cemetery, Simsboro, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, USA.
