Frederick Worthy, of Jerseyville, Illinois, was the son of Frank Worthy. He enlisted together with his cousin Harold Worthy and they both served in Company K, 138th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Divisionduring World War I, Frederick as a First Sergeant. They were two of the brave American soldiers who died in battle in September 1918 during the liberation of Vauquois, France. His body was never found but his name is memorialized at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery's missing plaque listing in Missouri.
