George G. Knapp served in Company K, 138th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division as a Private during World War I. He was one of the brave American soldiers who died in battle in September 1918 during the liberation of Vauquois, France. His body was never found but his name is memorialized on a bronze plaque at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery's missing plaque listing in Missouri.
