Edward J. Passek entered the military service in Missouri. He served in Company K, 138th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War I. He was declared "Missing in Action" on September 26, 1918 during the liberation of Vauquois, France and is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. His name is also honored on a bronze plaque located the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery's missing plaque listing in Missouri.
