George Worstenholm was born on January 28, 1899. He was one of the 138th Infantry Regiment (Company K) soldiers who survived in the battle for Vauquois, France liberation in September 1918. In July 1973, with his fellow survivors, they dedicated a plaque for their comrades who were killed in that battle which is located inside the town church of Vauquois. George died on October 10, 1976 at the age of 77 and is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA.
