August Dangos was born on May 15, 1887. He was married to Katherine Dangos. August was one of the 138th Infantry Regiment (Company K) soldiers who survived in the battle for Vauquois, France liberation in September 1918. In July 1973, with his fellow survivors, they dedicated a plaque for their comrades who were killed in that battle which is located inside the town church of Vauquois. He died on January 8, 1983 at the age of 95 and is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA.
