LT Edward Golden, 1st Armored Division, Memorial
1st Armored Division (4th Tank Battalion) Memorial Park
1LT Edward Golden was born on August 18, 1918 and lived in St. Joseph, Missouri. He served as a platoon leader of Company A, 4th Tank Battalion, Combat Command B of the 1st Armored Division. He was killed by a sniper while conducting a recon near the Italian town of Cadelbosco di Sotto on April 24, 1945 during the Po Valley Campaign. A marker on the spot where he was killed remembers 1LT Golden.
Earlier in the war, 1LT Golden’s brother, 1LT William Golden also fell on April 8, 1945 while fighting in Germany with the 753rd Tank Battalion.
