Oswald Birrell Deiter was born on November 15, 1903 in Dansville, New York. He had trained in America as an Osteopath working in New York. In his spare time he qualified as a pilot getting his Aviator's certificate. He moved to England in the 1930s and married Miss Ellaline Macey. Oswald joined the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve and went to Greenwich, England for inital training graduating as a Sub Lieutenant. His last assignment was on December 29, 1941 to January 1945 as a Lt. Commanding Officer on HMML 115 ship. He then returned to USA and settled in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he opened a practice. He died on July 20, 1979 in Bergen, New Jersey.
