George P. Barrett entered the military service in Pennsylvania. He served in the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Training by mid-air collision aboard his P-51 #43-6686 aircraft 10 miles East of Orfordness on June 14, 1945. 1LT Barrett was declared "Missing in Action" that day and his name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
