Born at Fairdale, June 30, 1925, Pvt. Davis was the son of J. J. and Nada McGinnis Davis. He was a student at Trap Hill High school and was a member of the Fairdale Community Church. He entered the U S. Army in May, 1943, as a paratrooper. He died while a prisoner of the Germans in a camp in Germany on January 25, 1945, at the age of 19. PVT Davis was initially buried in the Gerolstein town cemetery in Germany. His final resting place is in the Calfee Cemetery, Mount Tabor, Raleigh County, West Virginia, USA.
