Lloyd Russell Shuffelberger was born on February 27, 1908 in Copan, Oklahoma. He was the son of Maurice Eugene Shufelberger and Lillian Elizabeth Livingston Shufelberger. He served in the 84th Squadron, 437th Troop Carrier Group as a Flight Officer during World War II. F/O Shufelberger was killed in action when his glider was struck by enemy fire and crashed in the landing zone. He is buried now in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. He also has a cenotaph located in Bucklin Cemetery, Bucklin, Ford County, Kansas. His name is commemorated on a plaque located at the Holy Cross Church in Ramsbury, England but his surname is spelled "Shuffelberger."
