Raymond P. Wisniewski was born in 1915 in New Jersey. He enlisted in the Army on November 5, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Bookkeeper and/or cashier and also as Single, with dependents. He served as a Staff Sergeant on a C-47, 85th Squadron, 437th Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

On September 17, 1944, Operation Market Garden began, an airborne invasion of Holland. SSGT Wisniewski was a radio operator on C-47 "Tug O War", towing a glider filled with troops. Unfortunately, the Tug O War took a hit and ultimately crashed, killing Pilot Willam Yaeger and Radio Operator Wisniewski. SSGT Wisniewski is buried now in the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
