William C. Sipes, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona - a former Colonel in the United States Air Force. He entered the service in September, 1940, and transfrred from the infantry in June, 1941. After completing an aviation cadet course, Sipes was sent to the European Theater of Operations, rising to the rank of Colonel and commanding officer to the 303rd Bomber Group from April 1945 to June 1945 in England and then in France. He served two years in the European Theater of Operations.
