Howard Aloysius Volk was born on April 15, 1914, in Delphos, Ohio. He was the son of John Conrad Volk and Frances Philomena Sendelbach Volk. He served in the 735th Tank Battalion as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. 2Lt Volk died on August 25, 1944, and was temporarily buried in the Villeneuve-sur-Auvers American Cemetery, France. His final resting place in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
