Alfred H. "Fred" King was born on July 12, 1918, in Gibbs City, Michigan. He was the son of Louis Roy King and Josephine Raymond King.

Alfred enlisted in the Army on December 8, 1942, in Marquette, Michigan. He served in Company G, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Sergeant during World War II. Sgt King was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 25 in France. He is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
