Frank R. Hedeen was born on June 2, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the 849th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot on the B-17 #43-38128 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 13, 1944, when his plane was shot down by flak and crashed at Fuerth-Saar, east of Ottweiler, Germany.

2Lt Hedeen is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
