Henry J. Martinson was born on March 19, 1918, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Henry G Martinson and Agnes Johnson Martinson.

Henry enlisted in Peoria, Illinois, for the Air Corps on April 12, 1942. He served in the 850th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the B-17 #43-39297 during World War II. He died on April 5, 1945, during a bombing mission over Nurnberg, Germany. He is now buried in the Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
