Samuel Schaeffer was born on February 26, 1920. He served in the 406th Bomber Squadron, 801st Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Gunner on the B-24 #42-52650 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 3, 1945, in the takeoff crash of his airplane. It crashed in the village on Aston Clinton in England, killing all aboard. Sgt Schaeffer is now buried in the Woodland Cemetery, Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, USA.
