John Lloyd Emmons was born on May 28, 1924, in San Augustine, Texas. He was the son of Francis Marion Emmons and Frank Catherine Emmons.

John served in the 848th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Togglier on the B-17 #43-38131 'Little Miss Mary Kay' during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 5, 1945, when his B-17 was shot down by German flak boats in the harbor of Middelharnis, Netherlands.

SSgt Emmons is now buried in the McRae Cemetery, San Augustine, San Augustine County, Texas, USA.
