Wayne E. Watson was born in 1924 in Oregon. He resided in Mendocino County, California prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on August 24, 1943, in San Francisco, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
Wayne served in the 848th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner on the B-17 #43-38131 'Little Miss Mary Kay' during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 5, 1945, when his B-17 was shot down by German flak boats in the harbor of Middelharnis, Netherlands.
Sgt Watson is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
