Jack F. Knox was born on January 3, 1921. He was the son of Allen Luckey Knox and Susie Rudder Knox. He was a graduate of Stevenson High School, class of 1938, and was attending Florence State Teachers College when he enlisted.

Jack served in the 850th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator on the B-17 #43-38082 "Lady Helene" during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 7, 1945, in Germany, when his airplane was rammed by an enemy aircraft and crashed. Of the nine crew members, 2Lt Knox was the only casualty.

He is now buried in the Stevenson City Cemetery, Stevenson, Jackson County, Alabama, USA.
