Comments:
Herman Cohen was serving as the navigator on B-24H #42-52750 "Jane's Wittle Wabbit" which took off from Debach on an operational mission to Laon airfield, France. The aircraft was damaged by flak and ran out of gas, so the crew baled out. The aircraft crashed one and one-quarter miles east of Steen, three miles west of Bergues, France. The crew thought that his parachute failed, but the Germans confirmed that they found his body in the wreckage. Of the crew, Sgt Cohen was the only casualty. He is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France.
