Robert Barry Waggoner was born on June 21, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the 861st Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Tail Gunner on the B-17 #44-8246 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 2, 1944, when his airplane was shot down by flak and crashed at Sommerda, Germany. Four crew members were Killed in Action, and seven were taken as prisoners.
2Lt Waggoner is now buried in the Saint Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Franklin County, Ohio, USA.
